Phone Use During Appointments
Get the Most out of Your Dermatology Appointment in our Rochester Hills Office
At Apollo Dermatology, your time with Dr. Dupati is reserved just for you. We want every visit to be focused, thorough, and personal, and we want to share a request about phone use during appointments that helps us make that happen.
Our request
While you are waiting in the lobby or the exam room, feel free to use your phone however you like. Text, scroll, catch up on work, or listen to music. We understand that waiting is part of any doctor’s visit, and we want you to be comfortable.
Once Dr. Dupati or a member of our team walks into the room, we ask that you put your phone down and take out your headphones or earbuds. From that point on, your attention should be on your care.
We know many of our patients have busy lives and demanding jobs. Some of you are squeezing an appointment into a workday, and we truly appreciate the effort it takes to be here. Still, the time you spend with Dr. Dupati and our staff needs your full attention, and ours.
Why it matters
Good skin care depends on clear conversation. During your visit, our team may be reviewing your medications and history, and Dr. Dupati may be asking about changes you have noticed, examining spots that concern you, or explaining a diagnosis and treatment plan. When part of your attention is on a screen or a call, important details can be missed on both sides. A question goes unasked. An instruction gets lost. A spot that worried you never comes up.
Beyond the medical details, your visit is a relationship. Trust between a patient and a physician is built in those few focused minutes together. Distractions get in the way of that, and we believe you deserve better care than a divided conversation can offer.
What happens if a phone or headphones stay in use
If a patient continues to use a phone or keep headphones in after Dr. Dupati or a staff member has entered and asked them to stop, Dr. Dupati will need to reschedule the appointment for a time when the patient can give the visit their full attention. We never want to do this, and we will always ask kindly first. But a distracted visit is not one we are comfortable providing, and it is not how we practice at Apollo Dermatology.
A few helpful notes
- Hearing aids and other medical devices are always welcome.
- If you are expecting a truly urgent call, such as a family emergency, please let our front desk team know when you check in. We will do our best to work with you.
- If you would like to remember what was discussed, just ask. We are happy to write down key points or share your visit summary with you.
- Bringing a family member or friend to help take notes is always fine.
Thank you
We know this request asks a little of you, and we are grateful for your understanding. Our goal is simple: when we walk into the room, you get our complete attention, and we ask for yours in return. That is how we take the best possible care of your skin and of you.
